THE PRIDE OF PRINCETON: MIKE FORD IS AN AMERICAN HERO
Yankees 5 A’s 4
Deja Vu. Team of destiny. What a fucking ending for the boys in the Bronx. A game where they used someone named Ryan Dull and Chance Adams as their main bullpen arms, the Yankees find a way to come back from the dead against a very good A’s team and win. Their 90th of the year and it’s only the first day of September. What a baseball team.
After a very rare good start from J.A. Happ, the Yankees found themselves being shutout through seven innings, trailing by four. They rallied in the 8th, loading the bases with nobody out. Gleyber put a drive into one to right center for a sac fly. Everyone tagged, including Judge from 1st with some heads up base running. That allowed Didi to knock in two more later in the inning to pull them within one. Massive.
Gardy led off the 9th and absolutely blasted a no doubter to tie the game at 4. I’ve had enough of the Liam Hendriks is good narrative.
19 homers for Gardner this year. Unreal stuff. You just knew they were going to tie in the 9th there. It wasn’t if, it was who.
Next up was Clint Frazier, fresh off his September call-up, 0 for 2 with a walk. Boone opted to pinch hit the red hot Ford to go lefty on righty. He pushed the perfect button. Blouses. Walk off. 90 wins by September 1st. Unstoppable.
What a year this has been for Mike Ford. Goes from being a 27 year old minor leaguer with little hope of a call up to the big leagues to finally getting his shot because of the massive amount of injuries. Now he’s an everyday contributor. He’s homered off Clayton Kershaw. He hit two bombs off his former team in Seattle. He pitched two innings and recorded a strikeout. Now he’s got a walk off homer to his name. Have a fucking year Fordy. What a fire bat flip too.
Next. Man. Up.
Win. Get Hurt. Repeat.
An unstoppable freight train. The 2019 New York Yankees.
P.S. The Short Porch bump is REAL.
